Seventh Grade
Sherri Empey

My name is Sherri Empey and I could not be more excited to be the seventh grade teacher at Taylor’s Crossing Charter School! There are many things that I can’t wait to become a part of. The philosophy of kindness and the values that are emphasized in the Harbor School Method are admirable and will have an incredible impact on the children who are lucky enough to become part of the Taylor’s Crossing family. Margaret Mead said, "Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has." The staff and board members of Taylor’s Crossing are just that kind of people.
It is my goal to create children who are life long learners. When someone is taught the joy of learning, it will become a part of who they are. I want them to catch the vision of their potential. The way the Harbor School program treats all children as gifted and talented (as indeed they are) will bring the best out of each student. I am grateful to be a part of something so dynamic and inspiring.
My degree is from Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota. I have a double major in Elementary and Special Education. My teaching experiences have been diverse. All of these experiences have helped me learn to teach to the individual while focusing on the good of the group. I teach with a multi-sensory approach knowing that all students learn in their own style. Every student will learn, not necessarily in the same way or on the same day. The Harbor Method supports and emphasizes that philosophy.
My husband, Craig, and I have 5 boys and 2 girls. We have one son in Estonia and another son leaving for England in September. We also have sons who are a junior, a freshman and a 6th grader. Our girls are 6th and 4th grade. As you might guess, I love kids and believe that they are the future.
We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future. Franklin D. Roosevelt
