Parent-Teacher Conferences

Posted Date: 11/04/2022

To the Parents and Guardians of Taylor’s Crossing Public Charter School,

I just wanted to send a quick note of thanks to those of you that took time out of your busy schedules to meet with our teachers the past couple of days. It is a proven fact that involvement from parents and family in a child’s education greatly increases the likelihood of their success. I am of the opinion that students who know their parents and guardians are involved are also more likely to be more respectful, understand accountability and be much more responsible students and subsequently, great citizens. At Taylor’s Crossing, our goal is to try our best to develop students to be incredible contributors to society and I feel strongly that overall, we do a tremendous job. That’s not to say we are perfect, but I think we try very hard to do our best.

With the semester half over, I really want to express our desire to help your children be successful. I have not met a more dedicated and willing staff in terms of wanting to help students achieve success. I know that there are a variety of opinions about how that can be done and my wish is that you can trust our teachers and staff to help students grow. There is always a myriad of ways in which education can be done, but I feel strongly that the high expectations we have for our students is a leading contributor to the success we enjoy as a school.

I hope that parent/teacher conferences were beneficial for you to receive feedback from your child’s teacher about strengths and weaknesses. I also hope that insight was given to help you support the work being done here at school. I know, from the bottom of my heart, that the teacher’s intention is always to support and help students grow both academically and behaviorally. Mrs. Kolsen and I spend a lot of time in the classroom and always are amazed at the level of instruction your students are receiving and the high level of responses given by your children. We see it every day, all day. I really do believe that Taylor’s Crossing is something special.

I also know that periodically there are differences between expectations of teachers, parents and students and my hope is instead of focusing on those differences, we focus on the positives, which can lead to peace of mind for all parties involved. I have seen first-hand that there are so many more positives than negatives and hope that we can re-focus our energies towards the positive.

Finally, I would like to thank our incredible PFA who not only held a great Fall Carnival, but turned around to staff a Book Fair the very next week. To top that off, they also provided an incredible meal for our teachers and staff during parent/teacher conferences. I would encourage all of our parents to contact the PFA and volunteer time to help out. It truly is and incredible organization that has helped out or school immeasurable in the time I have been here.

Thank you for your support and your time,
